Common Questions About Sports Massage

What is a Sports Massage?

A sports massage is a form of massage that uses different grades of pressure to stretch out stiff and tight muscles.

The pressure used can be light, medium or deep, depending on your own personal preferences.

Although it is termed ‘sports massage’, it can be used for people who don’t play sport but feel the need to get their tight muscles stretched.

What to wear to a sports massage?

It is your own personal choice what to wear for a sports massage.

Some people like to undress to their underwear, and some people prefer to wear a pair of shorts and sports bra.

We usually apply massage cream or oil to the area we are working on, but we can work through clothing also.

We will leave the room and give you time to get organised.

Once you are lying on the massage table, you will place a large towel over your body before we come back in.

What is a Sports Massage like?

It is like other massages, however, deeper pressures can be applied if you like.

We will ask you if you prefer medium or deep pressures before and during the session.

Will a Sports Massage get rid of knots?

Those knots are areas of tension within specific areas of the muscles.

A sports massage is perfect for stretching out these knots.

How much is a Sports Massage?

Our fees range from £40-45 depending on the options you choose on your visit.

You can take advantage of our packages to save money and feel better quicker.

Karina our Sports Massage Therapist can also combine treatments such as myofascial release, cupping and IASTM.

How often to get a Sports Massage?

This is dependent on how long you have felt your symptoms for.

After your first session, the therapist will advise on what is best for you.

What is the difference between Sports Massage and a Deep Tissue Massage?

There is no difference between a sports massage and a deep tissue massage.

Both use the same techniques and grades of pressure, depending on your preferences.
